My Food for Life courses have been developed by PCRM and are offered as individual classes or a series. Each class features a cooking demonstration of delicious, health-promoting dishes, nutrition information, handouts of easy and affordable recipes participants can prepare at home, and discussion. African American Culinary Heritage
The curriculum inspires healthy eating habits through culturally relevant recipes to prevent chronic diseases affecting African Americans. The series recognizes the ancestral ties of West African foods, such as soul food. Classes help to prevent high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other health conditions that affect African Americans.

Cancer
Project
There is a critical connection between diet and the risk of developing cancer, which is why I emphasize low-fat, plant-based food. This course helps you understand the nutritious foods that can actively discourage cancer and promote overall health.

Cooking to Combat
COVID-19
Studies show individuals with underlying chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, or obesity are at greater risk of developing severe infections. These four classes illuminate how diets rich in low-fat, plant-based foods counter chronic conditions, support healthy immune systems, and reduce the likelihood of COVID-19.

Food for Fitness
(Single Class)

Foods for a Healthy Heart
(Single Class)
This class will arm participants with the knowledge and practical skills to improve heart health through simple diet and lifestyle changes.

Healthy Basics
This four-class series teaches budget-friendly, accessible dietary strategies to improve health. Participants discover how diet impacts disease outcomes and learn simple plant-based recipes.

Kickstart Your Health
Based on the Physicians Committee’s successful 21-Day Vegan Kickstart book, this seven-class series guides participants on a journey toward:
- Healthy Weight Loss
- Healthy Weight Maintenance
- Overall Healthy and Sustainable Diet

Kids Curriculum
This four-class series is designed to be a fun and engaging learning experience for kids between the ages of 9 and 12 and in grades 4-6. The program highlights the benefits of healthy foods (such as whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables) found on the Power Plate.

Let's Beat Breast Cancer
The classes in this Food for Life course will emphasize the undeniable connection between diet and cancer risk. Based on the Physicians Committee’s groundbreaking Cancer Project curriculum, the first four classes will focus on the role of different foods and nutrients in either promoting or discouraging the growth of different cancers, including breast cancer.

Nutrition Essentials
Based on the Physicians Committee’s 21-Day Vegan Kickstart book, this four-class series promotes a low-fat, plant-based diet for preventing some of the most common chronic diseases. Grounded in evidence-based science, the program empowers participants with practical knowledge and skills to achieve effective, long-term weight loss and maintenance while supporting overall well-being.

Your Body in Balance
This nine-class series draws from the popular book Your Body in Balance: The New Science of Food, Hormones, and Health by Neal Barnard, MD, FACC.
